Website QA Checklist
Quality assurance is the final barrier between your website and your customers. This checklist covers every category of QA — content, SEO, technical, performance, accessibility, and conversion — so you can catch issues before they cost you leads.
Website QA is the systematic process of verifying that every element of your website works correctly, looks right, and performs as expected. For local businesses, QA is not optional — a broken form, a slow page, or an incorrect phone number directly costs you revenue. This checklist organizes QA into eight categories, each covering the specific checks that matter for local service businesses.
Work through this checklist before any major launch or update, and schedule a full QA review at least quarterly. For a comprehensive assessment of your current site, consider a professional website audit that covers these areas and more.

How to Use This QA Checklist
Start with Content QA and Conversion QA. These are the categories that most directly impact your leads. An incorrect phone number, a broken contact form, or outdated service descriptions can immediately cost you customers. Fix these first.
Next, address Technical QA and SEO QA. These affect whether Google can find, understand, and index your website. Technical errors like broken links, missing sitemaps, or JavaScript errors prevent your site from performing well in search. SEO issues like missing metadata or duplicate titles reduce your visibility.
Performance QA and Mobile QA are closely related. Most local searches happen on mobile devices, and Google uses mobile-first indexing. If your site is slow or broken on mobile, you are losing a significant portion of your potential customers. Test on actual mobile devices, not just browser emulators.
Accessibility QA ensures your website is usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. This is both an ethical responsibility and a legal consideration. Many accessibility fixes — like proper alt text, form labels, and keyboard navigation — also improve your SEO and general usability.
Legal and Compliance checks should not be overlooked. Privacy policies, cookie consent, and accessibility compliance are increasingly required by law and expected by customers. If you are unsure about your compliance requirements, consult with a professional.
QA Testing Tools
Google PageSpeed Insights tests your Core Web Vitals and performance. Google Mobile-Friendly Test verifies mobile compatibility. Google Rich Results Test validates your schema markup. Screaming Frog or similar crawlers find broken links, missing metadata, and technical issues. axe or WAVE test accessibility compliance. Browser developer tools show JavaScript errors and network issues. Google Search Console monitors ongoing technical health and indexing. Running these tools before and after updates ensures your site stays healthy over time.
